RV stays in Kentucky
Bluegrass horse country, bourbon trail backroads, and Appalachian hollers in the east.
Search KentuckyA traveler's overview
Kentucky is a state of belts. Bluegrass horse country in the central limestone basin, the Bourbon Trail running through it, the Appalachian coalfields in the east, and Mammoth Cave country in the west. Roads here are old, often narrow, and worth the slow pace.
CurbNTurf hosts run from working farms in the bourbon belt to mountain pads in the Red River Gorge. Bring decent walking shoes — distillery tours involve a lot of standing.

Roads, food, and seasons in Kentucky
Run the Bourbon Trail in three days, not one. Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Woodford in Versailles, and either Maker's Mark or Heaven Hill on the third day. Hire a driver for at least one of them.
Red River Gorge in October is one of the prettiest places east of the Mississippi. Climbing season runs March through November; Miguel's Pizza is the unofficial basecamp.
Spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) are the comfort seasons. Summer is humid and tick-heavy in the gorge country; winter is mild but distillery hours shrink.
