Cross-timbers prairie, Wichita Mountain granite, and a Route 66 stretch that still feels honest.
Search OklahomaA traveler's overview
Oklahoma is geographically the elbow of the Plains and the Southwest — Wichita Mountains in the southwest are real granite, the Ozark foothills are in the east, and the panhandle pushes into mesa country. Route 66 runs the diagonal.
CurbNTurf hosts trend ranch and farm. Cell coverage is solid along I-40 and I-44; the rural roads are quiet and well-graded.

Roads, food, and seasons in Oklahoma
Drive Route 66 from Miami through Tulsa to Oklahoma City — about three hours of preserved roadside Americana. Pops 66 in Arcadia is the obvious stop; the Round Barn next door is the better one.
Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge for an early-morning drive — bison, longhorns, and prairie dogs in the first hour after sunrise. Mount Scott summit road is gorgeous at golden hour.
Tornado season (April–June) is real and serious; have a plan and a weather radio. Summer heat is the other constraint — May and October are the comfort months.
