Why New Hampshire

A traveler's overview

New Hampshire packs four-season terrain into a small state. The White Mountains are the dramatic core — Mount Washington has the worst recorded weather on earth. The Lakes Region in the south is summer cottage country. The seacoast is short but real.

CurbNTurf hosts cluster around the White Mountains and the Lakes Region. Fall foliage (last week of September through second week of October in the north) is the busiest period of the year. Book early.

Things to do

Roads, food, and seasons in New Hampshire

Drive the Kancamagus Highway (NH-112) — 35 miles through the White Mountain National Forest with no services and the prettiest fall color east of the Smokies. Sabbaday Falls is a quick stop midway.

Mount Washington can be summited by car (the Auto Road), train (the Cog), or foot (Tuckerman Ravine, Lion Head). Even in July, summit temps can hit freezing — pack a real shell.

Foliage windows are short and crowds peak the first week of October in the north. The week before and after are nearly as good with fewer people. Mud season (late April–May) is a real thing.
